The Gourounsi architecture of the Kassena villages, an ethnic group in southern Burkina Faso, is distinguished by its shaping of the oily earth used to build houses. The simple, oblong shapes of these houses, with their slightly inclined walls extending beyond the roof, are used in particular to store cereals for drying. This architectural principle was a major source of inspiration for the design of the tables.
