MOHAMMED DISSA
Born into a family of bronzemakers, Mohammed is one of the apprentice bronzemakers at Maison Intègre.
Growing up in Nonsin, Ouagadougou’s famous bronze-making district, he fell in love with the trade and decided to follow in the footsteps of his elders.
“When I was little, I was surrounded by nothing but bronzemakers. I really loved the craft.”
In 2005, he left school and devoted himself entirely to the profession. A few years later, Hamadou Aidara, one of the future master bronzemakers at Maison Intègre, took him on board and trained him. Working alongside him, he perfected his skills and became familiar with the Maison Intègre pieces. “In the workshop, I make the wax model, mold the clay and cast the bronze. I like working for Maison Intègre because I’m gaining experience. In the future, I hope to be able to work there full-time and make a living from it. My wife and daughter are counting on me.“
